first of all, that first one is just ridiculously funny...good thing that both of you were alright...I wonder if the other guy ever even saw it coming

I had one where the pits were on top of wooden pallet/cratish type things...anyways, pole missed the box, got wedged in those (and the mud that they were on), and I had to do the turn around and land on the ground and then roll out of it deal. Worse part was that my feet were killing me, I hadn't vaulted in about a month and my run was off, that miss meant a NH, and I was super frustrated as I had to kneel down in the box and literally dig the butt plug out of the mud/pry it out from the mud and crate between which it was wedged....absolutely
lovely day.
and then of course the few that scare the coaches but out of which you land on your feet...having a rope swing lead to som very inventive falls. One time we were doing a low take-off plant drill (seen here:
http://elitepolevaulttools.com/Pages/statictakeoff.htm) and the person controlling the pole movement didn't get it straight. That meant that I went into the support, wrapped around it, and then did a few circles swinging down around it...the first instance of pole dancing at bv. We all thought that it was pretty graceful and funny...coach thought that it was terrifying...and I thought that it was fun.
Pole vaulters are just born crazy.
