Everybody talks about SWING! You swing to the L position, but it DOES NOT stop there. You must continue to pull your HIPS to your top hand and you will instantly jump a foot higher!!!! Standing rope drills with ankle weights where you stand with your drive knee in parrell postion and pull up till your hips get to your TOP hand! Notice I said pull up not TUCK!!!! I personally have had 60 HS state champions in the last 6 years, and it works for ANYBODY!!!!

You're going to have a very hard time learning to swing better on the pole until you are comfortable jumping further out. From that video, the pole is bending before your take off foot even hits the ground. This is very undesirable. You will jump very high when your take off is able to move out.
This isn't something you can fix in a day. Start with sand or grass vaults with a grip just 2-3 fists above your reaching hieght when standing next to the pole. If you're about 6' then you should grip around 7'9" to start. The pole should not bend, and you should practice jumping and being in the air for 3-4" before the pole goes into the grass/sand. As you get better, slowly raise your grip, but make sure you are still jumping up into the air 3-4" BEFORE the pole makes contact. This is a "free take off" or "pre-jump". After about 1000 reps you will be ready to transition it to a 6-step vault (3 Lefts), and slowly it'll help you in your long run vault. This will take a lot of patience and practice, but it's the path to jumping your potential. Good luck! Post videos if you get stuck and need help.
