Still taking off flat -because of your head/eye position at and immediately after you leave the ground. However apart from that, basic movement patterns improved during the session - or was it a sequence of sessions. But you must improve your take off angle because you will continue to load the pole early taking off flat. As Bubka said - Move the pole -do not bend it - at take off.

But the real question is - what are you really trying to achieve with that particular drill?

thanks for the reply. it was just one session and yeah coming into the session i was going to work on jumping up more at take off and try to bury my head LESS. my goal was to get my head in a good position to be able to jump up onto the pole, not into it at takeoff. ive always had a "chronic under" syndrome and it would put a lot of pressure on my lower back causing pain, but jumps during that session didnt hurt my back at all and i could definitely tell when i was doing certain things right which is the road to improvement!i have a meet this saturday where im going to try to implement a higher/taller takeoff which should allow me to move up poles and hopefully PR!!

Don't worry about PRs - focus on getting your technique right.

Hard to tell since the video doesn't show the run, but it looks like your pole tip is low before you start your plant. Gotta fix that to be able to improve your takeoff angle.
