Unread postby Taylortexas » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:05 pm

First, thanks for everyone that commented on my last video. I really appreciated all the advice I was given and am looking for more so I can take my vault to the next level.

Pole 14'9 185 pacer
Bungee 16'7

Thanks again!

Hey man, so what I see is you can work on your pole drop. You are lowering it to soon. Also work on quicker last steps, your taking a long last step which is slowing your potential energy down. I think if you fix this stuff you will see that your vault will improve. Keep up the good work!

I have noticed that too. I think I started to have that problem when I moved back to seven lefts.

Thanks for the reply and I completely agree.

For comparison, here is a video from a month ago:

Try carrying your pole with your left elbow down instead of out like it is right now. I think this will help you run more up tall, faster, and more relaxed. Also will help with the pole drop. Keep up the good work and keep posting your vaults. Really focus on all that stuff in your pole runs and on sliding box.

Just something to add to Scott's comments, your position on take-off is decent but your hips start moving in front of your shoulders before your trail leg has fully extended. AKA, your hips are getting sucked under. Fixing your pole drop will help this enormously, but also focus on staying behind the pole by hitting the pole at a slight forward angle after take-off and keeping pressuring with both hands. This should help buy you some time to finish your take off before you swing.

Good jumps!

Hey man, so you need to focus on your pole Carry/Drop. This will help your speed down the runway, your plant, take-off, and a faster swing to the top of the pole(The whole vault really) Also focus on swinging all the way to the top of the pole with a straight left leg. Keep it up though!

Keep your hips in line with your shoulders on take off, by shortening your last step to leave the ground in a very slight forward angle. From there, your trail leg should come behind you naturally, and you will have a much longer axis to swing on.
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
