Hi everyone,

So on saturday I had my latest meet and finally got some more "OK" quality videos.
Not my best day of jumping, but still a good day.

Specifics:
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 130 lbs
Age: 15

Videos:
11': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI_PvCsDQ6M
11' 6": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP9rYiPkXf0
12': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYXP88432hU

All help is very much appreciated, as 12' in my section usually advances to state, qualifiers are in two weeks and I'd like to make my best effort to go to state. Thanks in advance for the help!

p.s. sorry about the not so great quality of the vids

I looked at your vids, Yankee, and I'd like to help you ... but the vids are filmed from too far away, and they don't provide sufficient detail for me to discern exactly what you're doing in your plant, takeoff, and swing. For an 11-6 PR, your run looks quite good!

Try to get some closeups, from right next to your takeoff.

From what little I can see, it looks like your technique is not too shabby, and you just lack experience ... with a REAL coach.

This summer, try to go to a PV camp ... even if you have to travel a ways to get there. Where do you live?

Meanwhile, for sectionals, just keep doing what you're doing ... and don't worry so much about your technique. You can't change it instantly anyway, so specific suggestions might just confuse you. RELAX!

Run hard, plant high, jump up (as hard as you can), and swing fast.

Thanks Kirk, I'll try to get some vids from the side! next time i'll try to get someone other than a freshman to do the videos O:-)

I'm going to a five day overnight camp at camp pontiac in upstate, NY. Foundation XC Camp is doing a pole vault camp this year and are bringing some college vaulters and a couple respected coaches from the area.

Hopefully they'll be able to work with me and help me improve.

Thanks for the input,
yank
