plant a bit earlier and it looks as though you're pulling yourself to inversion (with your bottom arm) instead of swinging to inversion. Work on getting your hands as high as possible over your head (trying to keep as much space between your hands and your head as possible) and whip your trail-leg through as hard as you can. Nice work on a 13' pole. -6P

Learn to take off tall and strong, without the seeking the support of the box...use that 4 step (or a 3-step) with a stiff pole and you will learn this pretty fast...it hurts when you plant under on stiff poles! If I was your coach I wouldn't even attempt coaching your top end until you fix the takeoff...if you can't jump "free" from 4 lefts you won't be able to do it from farther back.
Pole runs are also excellent for fixing an under take off, don't let the tip of the pole touch the ground until your takeoff foot leaves the ground, and land on your other foot so you can extend and "finish the takeoff"
good luck!

Thanks a lot guys.
We had a pretty long work out so my stride was more open than typical for me, which caused my slow swing. I will definitely try working on my plant and establishing a more free take off though.
My coach has mentioned trying to me about fixing my takeoff. But we've gotten competitive so fast this outdoor season so he and i both feel that we'll work the parts that will have the most effect on the vault.
The pole i'm on is a 13 175 in that video. When i move up to other poles though. We have a fourteen series, 155 160 stiff 160 170, i cannot kick the same 15'6" bungee. Any possible explanations on why i cannot convert my technique from the 13 to 14? i vaulted my most recent best of 13'6' on the 14 170 standards at 73. I am Currently working on getting onto a 15 160.
