Hello everyone,

last Saturday I jumped at trinity college, 1st outdoor meet of the season.

I was taking 6 steps, I weigh about 130, jumping on an 11'6" 140. I started at 7'6" (not on video), cleared everything one the 1st try, and then was out at 9'6". This is my first time jumping 9' since the beginning of last summer.

any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated!

thanks,
caitlyn

What other poles do you have available? It's hard to tell much from the video because the quality is so low, but it looks like you are barely bending the pole, and your technique is good enough that you are probably ready. If you had an 11'6 130 or maybe an 11'140 or 130, it would be interesting to see how your jump looked. Remember in college you can hold above the max handhold label, so it would be OK to cap an 11' pole.

That's ok, you'll just have to keep working on carrying maximum speed into the tallest plant possible. Once you do start bending this pole it will feel easier, but you're doing a lot of good stuff on the straight pole, and in the long run it will probably lead to better habits.

It looks like maybe your top hand is getting behind your hip when you run and you bringing the plant up a bit behind your head. Work on keeping that top hand in line with your body when you plant the pole.
