smalllllll town in upstate new york. brand new pole vaulter without to many bad habits actually. im trying to coach him some and get him doing the right things BEFORE he gets some bad habits so that he can start to progress. Hes only 5'5" 120 lbs but i know hes strong gymnastics wise. just take that in mind for any advice or model that you want to give. anythings welcome.

He's bending his trail leg.
Also, his doesn't have a great run...better high knees.
I"m sure there's people on here who will know what else to work on.
:)
hope this helps!

He must stay behind the pole at take-off...

Tell him to shorten his run to 4 or 5 lefts, 7 is overkill right now. This will give him more of a chance to 'feel' rather than 'power through' the vault... Does that sort of make sense?
