Hey guys, first video in over a week. I kinda got a stomach virus for a little bit, and there was bad weather, so i pretty much just chilled for the week (aside from some mile or two jogs, in gym class haha)
Um, was down the shore today, vaulting. I think it reached a high of 45 degrees and it was rather windy...you can tell i'm all budled up...except those other two kids are in shorts...but they're weird.

OKAY, um, since it was so cold, i pretty much worked on a small pole, from a very short run.
BREAKDOWN:
Strait Poling: I think i kinda "got away" from the pole a bit, on the pull/push, but idk, maybe that's not so wrong, i'm not sure, afterall, strait-poling it not my area of expertise haha. i woulda gripped higher, but it was so cold, that i pretty much couldn't hold a high grip cause my hand kept slipping
Jump 1: I broke my left leg, very early, before i could finish swinging and i think i may have pulled a little bit, right after take-off.
Jump 2: Once again, i broke my left leg, very early, causing me to go right to my back.
Jump 3: Took a very long stride on the last step but I Swang long, i liked that, but i kinda got into that 'V' position, but i did get out of it rather quickly. I got a nice extension up the pole (nice, considering a pole this small can't really give me any 'pop') but i feel i "got away" from the pole again. what causes that??
Jump 4: I swang long, but i dropped my drive-knee, so i didn't invert well, and shot out, instead of up. ALSO, i noticed that i didn't extend my top arm, on the push-off, however, i think that's just a side-effect, of shooting outward.
Jump 5: Started to swing my left leg through, but then dropped my drive-knee and broke my left leg {the double death} haha
After that, i just did some light bounding stuff, such as bunny-hops, leap-frogs and box-jumps. My shin was killing me though cause i got kicked there, a few days earlier, but it's okay haha
SO yea, let me know what you think. I'll go into "other business" in my Blog, in the training thread. But I WILL SAY, that this will be my last outdoor-vaulting, until March. I'm moving to an indoor facility, so weather can't effect me so much. -6P

I feel you gripped way too low on all of those... Start to push those grips up.
You need to work on your running. You are very 'calm' in those 3 steps... not a good thing.
I'll have more comments later.

Yea, i agree. On most of those jumps, i think i was "jumping over" my top hand. In addition to the weather, i felt i was gripping a little bit TOO HIGH, last practice. IN RETROSPECT, i think i should just gone to a softer 13' and gripped around 12, or something like that.
And i've been meaning to ask you about that. I'm so slow in those first few steps. And I , in a desperate attempt to increase speed, i increased stride-length How should i run those 3's??? because, i feel, if i try to run with really quick feet, i go nowhere, but i don't want to take HUGE, SLOW STEPS either. I'm gonna go, right now, and watch VT's 2's and 3's and see what he does! haha

Try coming in about 3 feet. That will make you 'get your feet down'. If you continue to increase your stride length, then your center of gravity is low as you begin to plant, then you have to work harder on the take-off. In order to get faster without increasing stride length, you must increase stride frequency.
Your 3 step vault approach should be violent (but still under control). Come out with a good feeling first stride length, then increase CADENCE ONLY. You should run the same length on each step, the length should only be traveled through faster.
