Well the following video is from my freshman year. Pr of 10'6. I'm using a 13'6 160 pacer.
A big problem I can't figure out in my plant is how do I stop my self from smashing my body into the pole. I can't seem to create any space. Is it from the minimal bend of the pole?
Also, I know my run is terrible in this footage, but I've been working on it
Anyways, here they are:

You have a very good take-off, but your swing is lacking good separation between your drive leg and trail leg. It's quite apparent that your bottom arm doesn't stay anywhere near high enough to facilitate a good swing as well.

When you say "high enough", what do you mean? And how can I fix that?
weight and hold height?

I weigh 158-ish and I hold about 11'11-12ft
Mover to a shorter pole.

Thats what I figured.
You are holding down over 18" from the top of a pole rated at your body weight. For every 6 inches you go down, the pole gets about 10 pounds stiffer so you are effectively jumping on a 12 foot 190. Check the table here:
http://www.skyjumpers.com/articles/pvpr ... table.html
It could be even stiffer than that because the poles are designed to be held within the top 12".
So you are basically stiff poling 10-6 which isn't too bad.
I think you should try a 12 foot 160 or 165.

Nah, don't buy a new 12' pole. Save your money for when you have advanced a little. You'll soon be gripping 6" or more higher, and that pole will work fine for you. Try to even out that gallop in your run. Do pole runs over banana hurdles spaced at 4' or 4'6".

Improve your run. There are lots of threads that talk about pole carry and the run up. STOP LOOKING AT THE CROSSBAR! I was told once "where your eyes go, so does your legs". There are many technical things you need to do to improve your jump. You've made one of the biggest leaps by getting on this web site and researching the pole vault. Just remember, it all starts at the top of the runway. Get the run mastered, then move on to the plant, then the inversion......etc. It'll come. Just keep asking questions, doing the research, applying what you've learned etc. Later..........Mike
