Not getting inverted.

Can someone give me some tips on this Vaulter?

He is not getting his hips above his shoulders.

It doesn't matter how long his pole is or how big of a pole he's on.
he just doesn't want to push his hips up to his hands/arms.
In other words, he's sitting in the bucket.

Vaulter:
6'1"
15' 165
grip: 14'3"
7 step approach.
Step is consistantly at 12' +/- 3"

Maybe he's putting too much pressure on his bottom hand?

It looks to me that when he plants he is staring at the box, when he needs to be looking through his bottom hand with his head up and chest out. Then he is really throwing his head back causing him to lose some momentum. If he can find his feet in the air and steer them up over the bungee he should be getting more inverted.

His pole drop is excellent, although he's a little under. Good take off, although he can always have a more dynamic take-off and he swings well through the chord of the pole.

Now what's wrong is his timing is too slow and he's behind the quickly unbending pole. To fix this he needs to move his arms and swing his trail leg faster. Moving his arms is sometimes referred to as rowing. That is NOT pulling down on the pole, the arms are very straight when this happens. He needs to simply row his hands to a position above his knees or higher as his legs swing up.

How does he fix this? Practice. One way is to tuck the chin a bit during the inversion and the vaulter actually watches his hands and puts them into place while staying tight with the pole. Do that several times until muscle memory takes over. Right now his hands are too deep and are landing near his ankle/shin area, by then it's too late as the pole is unbending.

I think he is pulling with his bottom hand to iniate his swing. Notice how he almost pivots around his bottom hand and not his top. He also doesnt get his bottom arm out of the way and his swing literally runs into it.

If my speculation is right, he is blocking/rowing a bit too much as well. Tell him to keep pushing up, even when he swings, and to push his bottom arm toward the top of the left standard. That will get his rotation going around his top hand and get his bottom arm out of the way so he can finish his swing.

although i could be wrong i think that after he finishes his swing and goes into his tuck he creates an akward rotation point away form the body. correct me if im wrong but its a combination of when he buries his head at takeoff which stops his hips from rising and an akward rotation point. along with a way to much pressure on the bottom hand. meaning i think he just needs to look up at the plant. and possibly just drive the knee higher and then roll your hips up and lock your hips when u go to rotate into your invert. high bar drills and bubkas could help. but deffinetly the major reason why is because of the bottom arm pressure going into your invert. your top hand should hold all the wieght and your bottom hand should just push it to verticle. not rowing like your doing. relieve the pressure of that bottom arm and break it earlier with the elbow inside the pole (because ure not really breaking it at all) and ull be set
