getting thrown

this happend to me twice this year, and i wanted to know what caused it and some help on my form plz
bar hieght: 13'
grip on pole 13' on a 14' 160 (i wiegh 140)
approach: 7 lefts

its all caused by the run and plant
1. when you run, do not row/stab/move the pole forward and back. your elbows can bend and move, but keep it limited to a slight up and down. look at any video of good vaulters.
2. you need to do about a million pole plant drills.
start wiht a walking plant, do three lefts, starting your shift and raise on 2. your starting your plant way to early, and then not getting your hands up the whole way. so its early, and late.. all in one
once you start moing your hands be aggressive and move the top arm quickly as high as you can reach directly above your right shoulder.
if your low, or off to the side, you will keep missing the pit.
id also suggest learning with a straight pole. you control the direction of the vault with your hands

looks to me like your elbows is collapsing i think maybe its the vid but i had that prob during practice and jumped in to the standard a couple times

yeah i think it is caused when i get tired my form just gets really bad lol but i usually go over the standards and off the pit completely..well the other time this happened i went off the pit completely

I realize the term "lol" is used very casually, but for sure this is not a laughing matter. This is serious. If this is what happens when you get tired then you should stop vaulting when you feel that way. Nothing good comes from vaulting with poor form. Do you have a coach? Does he let you continue vaulting when your form is this bad? I know I don't let my vaulters jump under those conditions. I'm sure you normally have better form than in this video. Look at videos of those times and compare it to this video. You should be able to see what is different and then be able to work on the problem areas.
Regarding feedback, I support everything VTechVaulter posted. During each of the last 6 strides of a vault, there is a proper position for the pole. Learn those positions and do that with the pole each and every time you do a walking pole plant for practice. That will get the pattern into your brain and help make it almost automatic.

well it was about 100, no wind, very humid, ran out of water and it was at regionals (i usually dont use excuses to explain why i jump bad but in this case you would have had to been there, probably one of my worst vaulting experiences) so i couldn't just stop vaulting but when i do get tired like that in practice i stop, but my vaults are a lot better when i am not so tired, i didnt even realize i was swinging my arms that much until i saw the video, i guess i was picking the pole up so early and planting late to make sure i was getting in the box, but the next time i vault i will post some good video of me so you will have something to compare to but i dont vault again for like 25 days so i will post some then

o yeah and i dont have a pv coach i have a head football coach i teach myself and all the new people basically, he just watches, asks what i need to vault, says good job, films me so i can see what i need to change, and takes credit for "teaching me how to vault" that is why i joined this site pretty much, the only thing he has done was show me this video witch was like a million years old, the reason my form and stuff suffers from this is because i never have had somebody show me exactly what to do the best thing i can do is research the sport on this website and watch videos

Your plant is way early... it looks like your trying to spear a pig
But seriously, running with the pole above your head like that actually causes you to get caught a little low at takeoff, and that probably contributed to you drift. Just do some pole runs and emphasize correct timing. Your run looks great, so fixing your plant will allow you to fly high.

This is a perfect example of the Texas Pole Vault Manifesto pole carry & run.
Everything is wrong from before your first step. You need to learn hold a pole correctly, lift the pole correctly, take your first step correctly, run & carry the pole correctly. In that order. Spend 6 months on it. Nothing else. That alone would add 2 feet to your vault. Imagine if you then learned to plant and takeoff.
