Pole over shoulder? :S
I did them the next day too, I just haven't gotten those videos up. That set and a set of high bar drills isn't up yet.
Uhh...I think I accidentally did that a few times...I don't think I'm coordinated enough, seeing as I've hit myself in the pelvis bone with the pole [the boney part that sticks out on my left hip, that's where.] And I'm not sure if it's in this set or another set, but on either the 7th or 8th, somehow I managed to hit myself in the nose doing that...not sure HOW, but somehow I managed to...

I've been doing the same drills at practice too. :)

On the bright side, I vaulted over 6' AGAIN today and I cleared it by a lot! 3-6 in, I think. It was one of those "I KNOW I made it" not a "maybe I can make it" vaults! It felt like I soared over it :) And it was in my non-spike shoes! :D 5th time over 6', 3rd time this year, 2nd this season! Last year, I only got over 6 while wearing my spikes bc they allowed me to run faster. [I have huge clunking shoes...I need the padding for my knees and shins.]

Carry the pole over the shoulder ALWAYS when on the grass. Don't plant. I guess you haven't watched the DVD yet.

whats the face for? it takes a step out allowing you to just focus on the pre jump, and it makes it so that you dont have to take that extra step to leave time to plant, which really isnt that big of a deal but after a while, its a lot of extra steps.

haha i've magically hit myself in weird ways too! like i think i have managed to get my left foot caught on the pole (im a lefty btw) and it just sorta threw me off the pole, it was weird.

That's part of the reason why it's best to start in the sand, THEN work your way to the grass.

The sand tends not to hurt as bad as the grass if you get 'caught' and fall, it won't let the pole tip slip forward (unless you REALLY mess up), and the psychological factor of having some sort of padding helps out with confidence.

oh haha ok. yeah i definitly like the psychological point, sand is just so much softer than dirt and grass. personally though, i manage to have the best ones when using a real box and mats and all.

I HAVE watched the movie, just not recently-recently.
I haven't had a chance.
I have some newer videos, and I think I remember what you meant by the pole-over-shoulder...I don't have a video of me doing those though, yet. But I shall soon. [hopefully.]

I'm about to put some more videos up, though it shall take a little while to load.

over the shoulder as in, take your right hand and put it just infront of your right shoulder while holding the pole so that it is now resting over your shoulder. such as is shown in pp's sand vaulting video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyRWmbyeglg&feature=related

your vault today: not bad, nice swing. try to not let go of the pole though. and trust your plant! dont look at the box! these are things you really want to keep from developing the habit of.

high bar drills: Amazing improvement on the bubkas! but on the swing drills, try to get all the way back and then swing through, cause what it looks like you are doing is, stopping yourself from going all the way back to build momentum, but instead you just sorta wiggle there, and then muscle up.
