Unless the pole is way too soft in the first place, and if you move down on the pole it rotates too fast.

13'1.5 145 (which feels mushy but perhaps its because my take off is always under?)
13'3 150 (which i never get enough penetration from)
13'6 150 - catapole (never used before in practice)
14'3 130 (lightest 14' we have which shoots me up more than heavier rating poles, not sure how that works)
i was looking at this and i put my camera side by side to see where i mess up and i found that i bend the pole before i takeoff,,, i tuck in my legs, and i get stuck in a L i cant really to much about... pole vaulting is very frustrating but im excited to try and imitate bubka's jumps,,, im getting on the high bar often and sharpening up the run down the run way,,
but i guess it'll take me a looong time to even get close to where i need to be.. im just hoping that i can vault in college?

Try taking that bigger pole out next practice and get on a high grip with it with your normal run. You'll be able to really feel your take-off. Just stiff pole for a little while, then I think you'll be impressed with your progress. Yuri Volkov doesn't even let his athletes have flexible poles until they can stiff pole 12 feet... think about THAT one...
