yeah thanks i am working on the pole run still and i lift the pole so early to make sure i get it in the box, because that was really the first time i actually vaulted on that pole and i just wanted to make sure i was getting it in there (it is 1'6 longer than the other pole i was using before it 14' and i used to use a 12'6) and i am going to camp so i am sure we will work on my running form alot, and does it look like i am pushing away from the pole too much and not pushing off the top of it? Just wondering, i dont know if you can really tell, i would post some more, but i just got a mac, and still working on how to load videos and stuff from my camera

Like achtung noted, the rest of your vault/positions are irrelevant until you learn to carry your pole correctly (your arms are straight and you pump the pole), run correctly (you're squatty and leaning forward), drop the pole correctly (you're supporting the weight of the pole with your bottom arm during the run), etc.

You look like you have a little speed, so work on your runway technique, get it cleaned up and then worry about what you need to do in the air. You seem anxious to jump high RIGHT NOW, but that's not going to happen until you do the things mentioned above.

That jump and your training situation are exactly why the vault is in danger in the U.S. Please work on the basics of your run and plant mechanics. Start low and work your way up gradually. You will certainly find a lot of good advice on this forum. Look through the technique sections. Buy a copy of Beginner to Bubka, and read it till the pages fall off. Find a competent coach in your area, even if you have to drive a couple of hours to get there. If you can get to where I am at, I will give you a lesson for free just to keep that from happening ever again. But whatever you do, do not ever finish a jump if you can see either of the standards in your vision at any point in the attempt. Your life, and that is exactly what is in danger, is not worth any bar at any meet – ever.

On the upside, you have potential. You just need guidance.

In the equipment forum I suggested a new rule dictating that anyone missing an area in the middle of the pit be disqualified. This is why.

alright so to work on my running form just use a sliding plant box, and just do a whole bunch of walk throughs, and all that good stuff
