First Meet of the season help

Unread postby Cbever » Sat Jan 15, 2011 8:02 pm

Hey guys this is my first post on the board, but I'm a long time reader.
Hopefully you guys can shed some light on my technique and tendency's

Currently I am a sophomore at South Plains Junior college and have jumped for 6 years
my PR is 16 ft
height: 5'8''
wt: 170

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVAmj2u611k

this is the first meet after a long winter break and I hadn't been on a runway in about 2 months. Its at Texas tech indoor facility the heights are 13'7 and 14'1 on a 14ft 175 pacer from 12 steps.

This being early in the season im on a fairly short run for me and a much shorter pole, but i will move up as the season progress's,,, sorry for the poor quality hopefully the music makes up for it!

thanks for all the help!

Sorry nobody has posted a comment on your jump. It kind of got lost in the shuffle and I just saw it this morning.

About your video, I like your take off position. Your knee drive is a little week initially and half way through the swing you transfer your weight to your bottom arm. Notice in the video how the pole stops moving and you come down on the bar.

You've got a lot of good things going for you. If you were one of my athletes, the first priority would be to fix the bottom arm problem then we would work on keeping your drive knee moving up and around in a continuos motion. Stiff pole vaulting and short runs on a bending pole you feel very confident on will help.
