Garrett, ignore all the people behind the curtain.

Listen to your DAD and MOM/Coaches, I am pretty sure they know a thing or four.

That was my opinon.

To be fair he only posted a link to a video with no questions whatsoever.

Garrett, since I have seen you jump @ Gill and in my back yard in the past few months and your takeoff in the video looks really good. Your making progress, keep up the good work. Hopefully Brandon will have some stuff to share soon.

You're right. You're bottom hand won't pass over your head if you don't grip high enough on a big enough pole, but the point is to not "block" by pushing the bottom hand straight out in front of you. You want to always push both hands as high as possible at the plant and into the take-off. I'm pretty sure you realize this. Anyway, here are two still shots illustrating the point:

it is always better to know the facts before you throw in the clever stuff. Last summer I was in front of the curtain -to coin a phrase - working with Garrett when i ran a two day clinic at his place at Dean's request.

Mcd's...

There is a huge difference between your hips getting sucked under the pole and accelerating your hips underneath and around the pole. It difference comes from position at take off and how soon you swing after completing your takeoff.
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
