Rowing?

Unread postby sum yung guy » Mon Jul 18, 2016 12:55 pm

It's probably been covered already but here goes:
I watched some practice footage of an accomplished female and noticed that after a great plant and takeoff,
she forcibly moved her top hand toward the pit.
It appeared to me that the pole instantly compressed, stopped rolling forward and commenced to unbending causing her to land short.
I discussed this with a rising college sophomore, also accomplished(17') and his reply was "oh, that's how you're supposed to pole vault". I tried to be diplomatic but in truth I disagree.
Any input?

I'd have to see the vid to understand exactly what you mean. Perhaps you can name the vaulter and point us to a link of her practice footage? Why would you want us to answer your question blind-folded?

But if you're just looking for some general info about rowing, you can search for "kirk rowing" on PVP.

Other posters have commented on rowing too, so you're right - this topic has already been covered on PVP many times in the past decade.

Seriously, give us the link to the vaulter's vid. We will be our own judge of what she's actually doing.
