Hey guys, i have a 14' 175 which i can jump 14'6 on, it's not bad but i need to get on a longer pole since i have my standards all the way back. The problem is that i just can't penetrate enough with my 15' 165 altius, i always come up short! I even tried holding it at 14'6 and still same problem. I've been facing this problem for a good month now. I believe it may be that i get on my back too quickly so i try to keep my trial leg back but i may not be doing it well enough. So if you guys have any suggestions i'll definitely appreciate it. Thanx.

Or lower... you're probably holding the 14 foot pole at 13'6" or 13'9"... start holding the 15 foot pole at the same place, and only raise your grip when you are getting good penetration.
You can just line the 2 poles right next to each other with their plugs even. Move your grip straight across.

That is why we make 14'7" length poles
Pacer and Skypole make 14'6"
Altius makes 14'3" & 14'9"
Catapole makes 14'6" also

Yes - but if you are in HS - it is manufacturer grip height - so where does the manufacturer put the weight band - lets see - for instance - if you have a 14'7" but the max hand hold line is 6" down - that would be 14'1" - a 14'6" with a 3" distance down would be a 14'3" --- since each manufacturer determines where this is - pole length alone does not give the whole answer. Just some early morning clutter for the mind -

[size=150][color=blue][b]CORRECT a very good point you have surfaced!
That is why ESSX manufactures and calculates the distance from the center of the Sail reinforcement to the optimum grip so our ring varies depending on the pole from 2" to 3 1/2 " from the top determined by the manufacturer as the maximum grip on the pole. Max grip is indicated by the contrasting 1 ½ white ring at the top of our poles that has a 1â€Â
Required by NFHS

Since the NFHS specifies some of this like 1" ring and 3/4" high number indicating weight - Gill has theirs 3" down on all poles, it appears that Spirit has theirs 6" down - Essx as Bruce stated varies theirs from 2" to 3 1/2" - not sure about others

Because 13-1.50 is 4.00 meters. Poles are sold all over the world...
