Blocking out?

Unread postby perezn03 » Sun May 29, 2011 9:43 pm

i know there are many ideas of what blocking out is. Although there are so many posts that if there is a topic like this one, i'd appreciate if someone redirected me as i am very interested about this!

I have been watching a vaulter recently, and to my knowledge it seems she isn't blocking out. But more or less not having a quick enough swing. My main question is how do i figure the difference. Is there a difference?

Anything feedback would be appreciated.

Locking your (typically) left elbow while taking off. This forces your shoulders back and your hips to come forward making it hard to set up a good swing. Also, often (at least from what I've seen in high school) it makes it harder to party much past 9 o'clock in your swing because the arm stays locked and blocks the swing.
