When do you know when to move your athelte up a pole to a new length, for example 12 to 13 to 14 feet.

Ideally, when they are on a pole 15 or more pounds over their body weight, holding at the top of the pole, knocking the bar off on the way up with the standards all the way back (31.5"), and landing deep in the pit.

Check out this chart... as you go to a longer pole you need to go lighter in weight to avoid too large of a transition: http://www.skyjumpers.com/articles/pvpr ... table.html

If it's a 12' 155 and that's all you have to work with, match up your hand grip from the 140 and then move down a grip or two. It will feel much stiffer, but the lower grip should help move the pole a little faster to vertical.
