Stiff pole or bend pole?

Unread postby Jungm1420 » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:16 pm

I am a freshmen in hs pole vaulting. I am now getting plenty of bend from my pole the weight on it is like 1 pound more than i weigh. I hear it is good to use a pole that wont bend to work on form. I can get a grip of 10'9 on my currnt 11'6" pole buy my feet never go obove my hands. My PR is 8'9".

If you can not get your feet over your hand when the pole bends. Drop your grip down to like 9' and only run 3 lefts, this should keep the pole from bending and you can practice swinging up and off the end of the pole.

If i have a meet tomorrow. Would it be better to use the pole that bends or use a bigger one that doesnt and try and get all the way inverted?
