This season, I have been stuck making 8'6" at every meet we have had so far, and I think it mostly has to do with my swing/invert phases. I have a hard time inverting, usually clear the bar horizontally. What can I do to improve this?
(I grip at 11'6" on a 12'4" 120lb pole, run at a 12step)
Also, could my initial grip be affecting this? My coach had me doing an extra wide grip (1 forearm length + 4 fists). Would it help if I had a narrower grip?

Re: Help With Swing up and Invert Phase
Yes, it will help if you have a narrower grip. Go with elbow plus a fist and focus on hands UP and not forward at takeoff.
The best way you can improve your swing is by improving your run and takeoff. If your wide grip has you blocking out, it's hard to get upside down.
