The outdoor season is just starting up for me and today was the first time i've vaulted since indoor, which ended two weeks ago. The weather was pretty poor today and i didnt expect to perform as well as i could, but didnt really perform as well as i expected. So, what are some tips to make a smooth transition from jumping indoor, with no variables and no elements to deal with, and jumping outdoor, especially when the weather wont be great for at least another month?

Use this time to go to a shorter run, shorter poles, and work on technique. It will be easier to be comfortable in crappy weather on a shorter run. The height of the bar doesn't matter at this point in the season, just work with your coach to figure out what elements of your technique need the most improvement. As the weather gets nicer, work your way back to a longer run one step at a time, spending some time at each step until you can carry over your technique improvements to the longer runs.
