The run and plant
Alright, so I start my run really good. But towards my last steps I start running on my heels and then I run around my pole and when I plant I end up leaning back and my step is always under no matter how far I move my run back. Also, my hips get sucked under and my trail leg bends. Another thing is what is meant by running tall. And when I get up on the pole I swing around the pole. Can anybody help to why I do this.

Do you have some video to post? That would help us help you more than anything.

I don't have any videos recently so Thursday at practice I'll have my brother tape me and then post my jumps.

Re: The run and plant
hmm sounds like you arent running tall on those last few steps. if you are landing on your heals then chances are you are leaning back, and to counter balance that you are striding out your steps (which is why moving back doesnt help at all). so running tall, means exactly that being as tall as possible while running -- so no leaning forwards or backwards because neither is going to put you in an optimal position for take off.
your hips are getting sucked under because of the way that you are taking off, so if you fix that then it should help your hips being sucked.
definitely get video of your jumps (full run included) because along with helping people here see exactly what you need improvement on, but it will also help you see how you're running, because it sounds like that is the root of your problems.
