Keeping straight

Unread postby andy94566 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:05 pm

My team and I started to vault again, and I'm keeping trouble keeping my body straight, like.. my body turns to the left or right when I'm in the air. We were doing these 4 left step drills today, where we run, plant, and keep the plant position without swinging and letting the bend take us while we hold the position, but everytime, my body would turn and when I land I would never be able to land on my knees or foot, and instead end up landing on my side or back. Any suggestions???

This is not unussual. You have to concentrate on controling the pole; not letting the pole control you.
Use your left arm to keep the pole lined up in front of you throghout the drill untill you are on the mat.
Since you are not attempting to drive the trail leg the pole should not swing to either side.
