Getting on bigger poles

Do you guys have any tips for getting on bigger poles? Right now I'm jumping on a 13' 150 Pacer but I would like to get on bigger poles, hopefully a 14' 160 by the end of the season. Is this a plausible goal? If so, what are some steps that I can take to get me closer to that goal? I'm 5'8" 140lbs, if that matters.

Also, I'm having issues with running fast with a pole. I can run pretty quick without a pole, and I can run decently quick with a pole and nothing at the end of the run. However, if you put something for me to do at the end of any run (whether for PV or long jump or whatever), I get drastically slower. I'm guessing loads of slide box drills will help, but are there any other things I can do?

These are nearly identical threads on the first page of the Intermediate forum... You can start there. Shoot me a PM and I can help you out with a more personalized plan... I used to live in Aurora, IL, so we should get along great! :)

first things first... never make it a goal to get on a bigger pole, just make it your goal to jump high and things will work out good. Expecially since no one has any idea what ur vaults look like or PR since you didn not tell us. 5'8 140 it would be perfectly reasonable to jump on a 14' 160 if not way bigger (thats about size i use and im 5'5 135). It all depends on runway speed and planting ablilty. But right now work on blowing through that 13' 150 with standards all the way back. Then do the same thing with a 13 155 and 13 160 and 13'6 155 and so on with whatever poles you have to progress.
