Ok so here is my problem. I have vaulted for about 3 years without a coach and in doing this i have devolped some bad habits. These habits are not letting me jump as high as I should be. Some of these habits are i cant seem to stay behind the pole, as soon as I hit the box I tend to want to start swinging. Also I always try to jump for the bar and i cant get my hips to rise and shoulders to drop. So if anyone has any tips on how to help me stop my bad habits i would appreciate it thanks.

To help with the issue of staying behind the pole, work in the sand with a stiff pole. There's no cheating in the sand with a stiff pole. As for your other problems, they can be related to a poor take-off or plant, and of course, not staying behind the pole... hmmm...

Do Bubka drills; use the search feature and my name on here, I've posted a detailed description of the drill as have many others.
