Step/height progression?

How high should you progress in height for every two steps you move back until you you reach your max run? For example 2 steps,4,6,8,10 and so on. If I were able to jump 17 from my max run what should i jump from 14,12,10, and so on?

I don't look at length of run as much as grip height.
Rule of thumb #1:
13' of grip = 13' of bar
1" of grip up = 2" of bar up
therefore:
14' grip = 15' bar
14'6" grip = 16' bar
15' grip = 17' bar
If your grip height does not match up to your best bar height, drop your grip until you can clear an appropriate height, then begin the process of raising your grip 1" and trying to clear 2" higher.
Generally a college guy can grip 13' from 3 lefts.

Ok if someone grips 13 from 3lefts, then how much can they grip from 4lefts,5,6and so on until lets say 8? How much should you raise your grip for every extra left you add?
example
2-?
3-13(grip height)
4-?
5-? and so on.....

It varies greatly between individuals. Height, speed, takeoff efficiency all have a part in it. The only universal is that the increase in grip height decreases the farther out you go. For example there will be a bigger difference going from 3 to 4 than there is going from 6 to 7. Personally, I think anyone jumping under 18' should stick with 14 steps.
Just jump at a given approach length raising your grip until you max it out, then back up a stride and keep going. There are no hard fast rules to it.

2 steps- 10'6"
6 steps- 13'6"
8 steps- 14'6"
10 steps- 15'6"
14 steps- to early to know.
These are recent marks.

There are already 2 threads full of this. I think one is called Step Competition.
