it's 10 lefts.. i have good reason for starting with my left foot back, and since i vault correctly (righty) it ends up being 10 lefts, 9 rights..
the approach should be a natuaral acceleration.. i don't know how many times i've heard to not blow out the back.. meaning.. you don't need to start at a full sprint.. there is no race to land.. only pursuit of skydom.. my stupid friend geoff would be vaulting 5.80 if he could figure this simple lil' thing out.. damn rednecks.. therefore.. i'm going to go to mich in a couple weeks and bitchslap the crap runway outta him.. i can't wait to publish my book..

Cool, someone else who starts "funny". I've gotten a lot of crap over the years for starting right foot forward, and being a right handed vaulter....glad to see more people confess it, lol, j/k
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

Talent in cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.

I start the same way  I always tell people that I run from 6 1/2 lefts when they ask how many lefts I take.

Left foot fwd

Ok - I do start left foot forward - do in all my jumps - just happen to vault and jump left handed - so I must be backwards all the time in all the events - as long as it comes out correct at the end - ;)

that is why it is always less confusing to go by strides rather than lefts.
although i take an even number of stides as i am normal.
