Re: Running Through Vaults
Go back from 3 step to 4 step 1st w/ same grip as is working at 3 steps. Should be no trouble to jump. Then move grip up a fist at the 4 step. Likely will get some jump off ground. If not stalling, raise grip a fist and move back a fist and go from 4 steps. Keep moving grip a fist at a time and step back the same staying at 4 steps till you almost stall. Then same grip but go to 5 steps. Again you'll likely jump since the grip worked at 4 steps. Then go up a fist, back a fist and same pattern till almost stall. Then go to same idea at 6 steps. In a half hour or so of working back and up you should be at 7 steps with a grip that works. If you find you run through during this process first move step up 6 to 12" as most non-jumps seem to be an out step. If out step isn't cause of non jump then move to the last step and grip that had worked, take a couple and then start the process again. Fair chance this will get you going again. Good luck to you.

Re: Running Through Vaults
Something that really helps me is using midmarks. I don't know if your run is the problem but now I always put cones on the side of the runway where my midmark is. If I know that I am on my midmark I can run hard, with confidence toward the pit. I know exactly how you feel about losing confidence, but don't give up! You will figure it out soon. I really suggest looking at a midmark chart so when you are running down the runway all you have to think about is hitting the jump with power, instead of worrying about running through.

Re: Running Through Vaults
Thanks a lot everyone! I think today when I vault I'm gonna try the 3 to 4 steps and going down a fist on my grip every time I feel comfortable. As for my approach, my teammates say its looking more smooth and faster then ever, I just don't have the confidence to pull the trigger and take off, which is totally true. I'm going to try jumping on a lighter pole today so If I take off I can get some good bend and not worry about the pole tugging me too much. If anyone has anymore suggestions about building confidence or if anyone else has had this same problem please let me know, I hate scratching every meet because I don't take off...
