Looking at the bar

I wouldnt suggest closing your eyes, unless you are on a very soft pole on a short run in practice. Too many things can go wrong in the vault for you to close your eyes and not realize it. However it may work for some people! I think the best thing to do is focus on what your body should be doing, ie. staying in line with the pole and keeping your hips moving as long as possible. If you can do this without losing sight of the bar, you dont have to lose sight of it!! However this would be a very difficult thing to do, so if you can learn to lose sight for just that split second you are inverted and before you turn you should be alright. Although, do as i say not as i do, if you know what i mean ;).
