Legs fall forward when i tuck my butt in

Unread postby nacboy » Sun Apr 22, 2007 7:32 pm

When i get up on the pole i get my legs up but when i try to tuck my butt in, to get my body straight, my feet fall forward, into the pit area. I had a meet yesterday and i kept going over with my back facing the bar. Is this just a lack of ab strength? Maybe my arms are too far away from the pole? Help, thanks.

I don't think it is so much abs as upper back/shoulders/tricep. It's like when you grab the handle straight overhead on the lat pulldown machine and with straight arms, pull the handle down to your waist. Those are the muscles you need to develope along with your abs to get tight to the pole.

Don't think about tucking your butt in, think about swinging your legs back towards the track, that way you can get upside down for sure and be able to shoot up the pole.
Do just once what others say u can't do, and u will never pay attention to their limitations again.
