I'm having a problem where i don't seem to have time to invert and i'm launching forward (hitting underneath the bar on the way up) instead of inverting, and going over.
I've been told by some people that i'm blocking, others say i just need a stiffer pole, and others say i need a longer pole.
I think maybe my pole speed is too fast, i'm going through the arc too quickly (longer pole may help??) but i'm going forward instead of up...
I appreciate any help...
thanks!
trouble inverting... longer, stiffer pole?? need advice...

I have had the same problem. It can get kind of frustrating, but there are ways to help you out.
For a quick fix, a softer pole will uncoil more slowly or a brand like Skypole will give you more time to invert.
What I suggest for permanent help is using gymnastic rings or a climbing rope and just practice swinging. The more you do these, the more your abs will get stronger and you can train yourself to become upside-down. My coach really emphasizes these and using a rope to practice swinging.

Bad days are for rain. Rainy days are whatever you make of them.
This happened to me for a few practices really bad, I thought it was because I was finally starting to put pressure with my bottom hand, but it turned out I wasn't jumping with the pole, but rather letting it take me up and kinda squashing the pole. The coach who told me this said that I was getting a low bend, and that you want a high bend. After she told me that I started actively jumping up and it helped me go higher. I don't know if that's your problem but it's just a thought.
