How to practice with no pit?

i really am sorry lonpvh!!! i took that the wrong way! i was really nervouse because we got to the meet late and i got no run throughs no stretching in (before my 1st attempt) and i had to wear sneakers because of the type of track it was. thankfully, it all came back to me though and once i got warmed up, i did fine! thanks to everyone who offered advice, or humor (even if i took it the wrong way lol). !!!!!!!!!!!

I always carry towels to meets. I end up having most of the other teams storing thier poles under my towels. Keep that towel over your pole all the way back to the runway until you absoultly need to remove it. I've also re-taped my vaulters poles 5-6+(essentailly between vaults) times as the rain soaks the tape and it loses friction
