Collapse to the Inside or Outside?

Unread postby sdvaulter06 » Fri May 07, 2004 8:02 pm

Do you think it is better to collapse to the inside or outside! I do inside at the moment and vaulted hard today and I have a pretty big bruise on my left wrist! That will happen though when you are collapsing inside! What do you think?
PM me if you know of any vaults around the Midwest!

Umm. Is it even possible to get a full vault off if you collapse to the outside...?

thats a good sign. the first few years i started getting inverted i got that bruise. More recently though, i haven't gotten it because the inversion happens at a different point in the vault. But DEF inside, if you callapse outside, you will get stuck when the pole hits your armpit, and not be able to fully rockback.

Ok Thanks, Now do you have any information on how to get my bruise to go away! Do you think I should maybe tape some foam on there during practice?
PM me if you know of any vaults around the Midwest!

There have been previous threads on that type of thing, but....

Wristbands work, as well as somone mentioned a volleyball knee guard.

For some of the vaulters who were just getting the bruise and were bothered by it during practice, my coach found these small, foam soccer shin guards that would regularly be used by little kids. You can strap them on and they fit really well on your forearm, where the bruising and swelling is located.
