Clearing 12-0 with an 11-7 grip is good!
According to DJ's Mid Mark Chart, the average grip for clearing 12-0 is 12-3 ... and the average PR with an 11-8 grip is 11-0. So you're well above "normal"!
You'll have to explain your situation a little better than this. It's impossible for us to advise you if we haven't either seen your vid ... preferably on your old pole and your new one ... or read something more than "am having trouble transitioning".
If no vids, explain your height, weight, grip on new pole, technique, are you hitting the bar on your way up or your way down, where in the PLZ you're landing (old pole and new pole), where your standards are set, parts of the vault that you're focussing on, parts of your vault that you feel you're having trouble with, do you have a coach?, what does he say?, etc, etc.
The more info you give us, the more we can help you!

Re: Need Help Transitioning to new pole
i don't have any videos, but the problem is im having a hard time getting penetration into the pit. I seem to be stalling out when i use my new pole. I don'treally have a coach that knows anything about pole vault, thats why i came on here to ask.
i am using same grip on new pole also.
Im about 6'1 148-149
hope that helps a little bit more, sorry about being so vague before

Thanks for height and weight. Still need to know:
... grip on new pole, technique, are you hitting the bar on your way up or your way down, where in the PLZ you're landing (old pole and new pole), where your standards are set, parts of the vault that you're focussing on, parts of your vault that you feel you're having trouble with ...
Please expand.

Re: Need Help Transitioning to new pole
on my old pole i have my standards at about 26, but im landing in the back of the pit. On my new pole im holding the same grip as on 12ft pole about 11'7, but im barely making into pit, i am constantly stalling out right above box and almost landing in it. i havent really put a bar up while vaulting with new pole due to im more worried about making it into the pit right now. I have a meet tomorrow so i might be able to get some footage of me vaulting on my 12ft pole and maybe the 13ft. i currently run from a five step approach of about 63 ft, do you think it would help to move back to a six or seven step aproach on the longer pole?
During my vault i try to emphasize a tall plant with a good swing, i usually leave the ground before my pole hits the back of the box, i think its called a pre-jump, only by like a half second to a quarter of a second though.
Not sure if this matters but im moving from a skypole to a ucs spirit.
i hope this helps

Re: Need Help Transitioning to new pole
On your 12' pole, put the standards all the way back to 31.5" and don't go up poles until you are knocking off the bar on the way up.
