:idea: For us metrically impaired, please post feet and inches also. Most HS athletes, their coaches, and parents of both HS and college athletes don't have a clue. After a long day at work it just takes to much think'in and sifer'in to figure it out. :dazed:

yeah, meters can be confusing when dealing with track results. im good at thinking metrically from 4m until about 6.15m but anything else is pretty confusing. i have no clue what is good in the throws metrically

USATF National Pole Vault Summit
Reno (USA)

Men
1. Derek Miles (USA) 5.80m 19'0 1/4"
2 = Brad Walker (USA) and Russ Buller (USA) 5.60m 18'4 1/2"
4 = Tim Mack (USA) and Jeff Hartwig (USA) 5.60m
6. Toby Stevenson (USA) 5.60m

Women
1. Stacy Dragila (USA) 4.70m 15'5 1/2"
2. Kellie Suttle (USA) 4.3m 14'1 1/2"
3. Tracy O’Hara (USA) 4.3m
4. Chelsea Johnson (USA) 4.27m (i don't think this is right it was actually 4.30m)
5. Jillian Schwartz (USA) 4.17m this either. most likely 4.15m 13'7 1/2"

I think whoever wrote the IAAF article wasn't paying attention and converted the rounded heights on the performance board to exact metric heights or went by what the announcer said. When the girls began vaulting at 4.30, the board said 14'2" (which is correct) but the announcer kept announcing 14' which is 4.27. Same thing with the 4.15. The board said 13'8" which is technically closer to 4.17.
