2004 POLE VAULT SUMMIT SPEAKERS & SESSIONS
Our challenge and mission each year is to advance the improvement of pole vault knowledge. The Pole Vault Summit offers an opportunity to learn, observe and compete with the world's best coaches and athletes. This year our efforts are to highlight Principles, Concepts, and Attitudes for pole vault success.
Speakers:
Bob Fraley – Director of Track & Field - Fresno State University, 2003 Nike Coach of the Year, USATF Pole Vault Development Chairman, coach, author, consultant. His topic: "Selling the 3rd Hardest Sport to Society".
Alan Launder – Olympic and National Coach (Australia), author, professional sports educator and consultant. His Topic: "Performance, Safety and Good Mechanics and a Practical Technical Analysis for a Range of Vaulters."
Dr. Rick McGwire – Director of Track & Field - University of Missouri, NCAA Track & Field Committee member and USATF Sports Psychologist. His topic: "Kinethesis and the Pole Vault."
David Butler – Vertical Jumps Coach - Rice University. His topic: "Mechanics of the Approach Run."
Rick Baggett – Coach at Clackamas Community College, Willamette Pole Vault Center Director. His topic: "Improving Velocity Through the Critical Zone."
Demetrius Sneer - All American Sprinter, Sprint Coach at Modesto Community College. Hs topic: Speed Development.
E.J. Jackson - Speed Consultant. World's fastest 55m time in 2002. He will discuss speed development.
Dick Railsback - Former Assistant Coach at the University of Nebraska, coach and author, former world ranked vaulter. His topic: "Parenting and the Pole Vault."
Vitali Petrov - Guest consultant. Former coach of Sergey Bubka. Present coach of the 2003 World Champion Guiseppe Gibilisco.
Dave Nielson - Director of Track & Field - Idaho State University, Women's USATF Pole Vault Devopment Chairman.
Andy Boogaard - Sports Editorfor McClatchey Newspapers. His topic: "The Positive Parental Influence on the Media"
