Brittany method

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Sun Apr 10, 2005 2:28 pm

Brittany method
does anyone see if this could work in competion. WOW can one get more power from the shot this way

I have to look at the rules it would be great if one could throw farther this way looks cool

"The Brittany Shot Put Method"

Art 9 section 5 does say it is a failed attempt if the putter allows the shot to drop behind or below the shoulder during the put atempt. MMMM
What do you readers think?

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! wow. i've never been able to master the art of doing a cartwheel... but being able to do one with one hand, a shot in the other, still manage to putt it, AND stay inside the ring?
now that's skill.

I dont think it would be illeagle in high school... the only rules there seem to be here in Michigan *or the only rules they tell us at the beginning of the meet* are that
~the thrower must enter through the back of the ring in control
~IF the implement goes out of bounds, it is a foul
~ if the thrower steps over the ring anywhere besides the back it's a foul
~ if the thrower goes to start a throw, and is in the middle of getting the implement away and decide that they do not like the throw and want to try again, it is a fault. they have to exit the back of the ring in control and start over.
~ the thrower must leave the back of the ring in control *as in, not spinning wildly about or anything other than a control walk*

and that's about it.
we're alowed to throw whichever way we wish *glide, spin, *weirdly**
as long as we dont hurt ourselves...

though there migt be some unspoken rule about which body parts are alowed to touch the ground.

still, it'd be awesome to be able to throw that far on a normal aproch...

cartwheel legality

Unread postby mrc » Fri May 12, 2006 1:43 am

there's actually a big discussion going on about the legality of the cartwheel technique going on at The Ring (thrower's discussion forum - http://www.effortlessthrow.org)
Hal Harkness, the rules interpretor for California High School track is investigating it right now...just f.y.i.

thanks for the video tho, i've heard a bunch about it, but never seen it. There's actually a rumor that a guy out of NH can do it too (but a lot less than his spin). I couldn't imagine trying that with a 16# shot.
