Haha from Dyestat.com:

A "sprint summit" is on the drawing boards in conjunction with the 2003 Nike Indoor Classic to be held at Landover MD next March 15-16. Modelled roughly after the Pole Vault summit in Nevada, the event would involve elite and high school athletes and coaches and would include instruction, demonstration, and competition.

They just think they will be cool by having a summit. But the aren't as original as us. So what dystat.com wants to think nothing will ever beat the pole vault summit.

Haha their summit will never be as cool as ours because everyone knows that sprinters are just not as cool as pole vaulters ;)

Whats so Entertaining

I just don't see what is so entertaining about a stupid little run down a stupid straight away. At least we carry poles and jump high into the air.

hey i'm a sprinter too guys .. and you have to be good at sprinting ... well moderately good to be good at pole vault, of course you have to know how to jump and be tall but speed is a factor! but then i think that the pole vault summit would kick butt over the sprint summit ... how long would the sprint summit take?? ... an hour ??? and then it would be over!!

I actually personally love sprinting. I think a sprint summit would be awsome. All the competitions, and then in the end they could have a huge relay and have some flying times. Highschool vs college vs eliete. How sweet would that be. Somone like mo greene, justin gatlin, and willie hodge all racing.

Didn't Bubka have a PR of about 10.2 for 100m? ;)

I think this topic has been brought up before about Bubka being sooooo fast. Its really not true. Our head coach was the national coach of the soviet union from 84-88, and she said Bubka could hit 10.4 with a hurrican behind him. I would go out on a limb and say Russ Buller is the fastest sprinter to ever pole vault high. He ran 10.30 something electric. But being fast doesnt guarantee that you will be fast with a pole. Look at Dan Obrien, Chris Huffins, any speedster Dec, If you see thier runway velocites you will notice they are relatively slow with a pole in thier hands. Food for thought. Cheers all

Having a good 100m time doesn't necessarily mean you have great top end speed anyway. It means you probably have a great start and good quickness or acceleration. It is possible that a guy with a 10.6 pr might actually have quite better raw top end speed than a guy with a 10.3pr and isn't that all that counts?
