The Aachen meet will be a street vault. It's an annual event in Aachen, since 2005. The pic (from the 2010 event) on this link: https://www.360cities.net/image/katschh ... pole-vault looks like a spectacular place to vault!
... between [the] Town Hall and the Aachen Cathedral. At the end of the season [it] is the meeting point of the best pole vaulters here in Aachen on this spectacular place. Once again they want her on the Katschhof [Public Square] to show what they can [do].

In researching what "Katschhof" meant, I discovered that that's where the pillories took place!

Good luck to all competitors while running the gauntlet! :D

Here's a rough google translation of the list of entries for Wednesday's street vault in Aachen (translated from: https://www.netaachen.de/domspringen/)
This year's starting field is like the World Cup edition: Wood Deppe, Barber and Wojciechowski give themselves rendezvous
Record holder Björn Otto: End of career when NetAachen Domspringen
Young Belgian wins wild card for the main jumping

Aachen. This year's starting field of the 11th NetAachen Domspringens leaves no wish unfulfilled and promises to be a sporty top highlight. Having already have confirmed their participation, the three world champions and current medalist of the World Championships in the pole vault in Beijing, Shawn Barber, Raphael Holzdeppe and Pawel Wojciechowski, the audience can now also look forward to the last year's winner Mark Hollis from the United States. With skipped 5,80m located Hollis was a winner in the annals of legendary pole vault meetings last year. "The commitment of Mark Hollis shows that the NetAachen Domspringen a high international status among the Springers did," says Andreas Schneider, Managing Director of NetAachen. With the US-Boy Sam Kendricks and the Czech Michal Balner attack on September 9, two other international Topspringen on the Aachener Katschhof to the bar. The two other German World Cup participants Tobias Scherbarth and Carlo Paech and Marvin Caspari and Hendrik Gruber have promised. Thus, the fine box is almost like a new edition of the World Cup in Beijing.

Last year's winner Mark Hollis will be there!

Congratulations to Shawn for winning in Aachen today! :star:

According to http://www.sueddeutsche.de/news/sport/leichtathletik-stab-weltmeister-barber-gewinnt-aachener-domspringen-dpa.urn-newsml-dpa-com-20090101-150909-99-12343, it looks like Shawn has once again proven his consistency at clearing bars on first attempts, and has won another one (5.75), with Carlo Paech 2nd (5.75) and Pawel Wojciechowski 3rd (5.70) !

And once again, 4th place Raphael Holzdeppe drops down a notch (3rd place) due to misses (5.70).

Staff champion Barber wins Aachener Domspringen

Directly from the dpa news channel
Aachen (AP) - Shawn Barber has won the 11th Domspringen in Aachen. More than two weeks after his World Cup victory in Beijing triumphant Canadian Stabhochspringer even when high-caliber competition in the Katschhof in the city center.

Favorite Barber mastered before 5000 spectators, the winners of 5.75 meters in his first attempt. Thus, the Aachen debutant referred the Leverkusen Carlo Paech in second place, who had needed three attempts for this amount. "It was wonderful to be here, the atmosphere is just phenomenal," Barber said after his victory.

As with the World Cup of Pole Pawel Wojciechowski was (5.70 meters) of third parties. The World Cup silver medalist Raphael Holzdeppe from LAZ Zweibrücken had to settle for fourth place. He managed the 5.70 meters until the third attempt.

According to sporstcaster Lukas Weinberger before the meet, "Barber wants to jump 6m in Aachen"! So we can only assume that he will have this same goal for the Brussels meet in 2 days. It may take that to beat Lavillenie!

First miss for Lavillenie at 5.95. Barber is up!

This bar is doable for Barber, but it will take a new NR and PB for him to clear it!

Go Shawn! :star:

Lavillenie clears 5.95 on his 2nd try!

Will Barber pass once again? He can't win at 5.95. He must clear 6.00 to win now.
