Very gutsy to attempt 6.00 immediately after 5.84, considering his PR is 5.93. But why not? At the rate he's going, he may just surprise us with a 6.00 clearance sometime soon (in the next couple of years, but maybe sooner than that!) so he might as well get used to having the bar set there.
I know he's still got a lot left in him, and his current PR isn't anywhere near his peak.
Only 4 vaulters have ever cleared 6.00m by age 23, and if Shawn had cleared his 6.00m attempt today, he would have been the youngest member to ever join the 6.00m club!
He still has a couple years to break into this elite group of vaulters!

As far as we know, he is still an amateur, so there is no financial motivation to keep breaking the Canadian record 1 centimeter at a time. But if he can clear 6 meters before he goes pro, that should increase his value to shoe companies quite a bit, and of course breaking into the 6 meter club is a huge personal accomplishment for any vaulter.
I'm thinking if he could clear 6 meters before Worlds, he could sign a hefty contract, and then make bank if he performs well at Worlds...

Deleted, since I got confused on who was in this meet.

Click on the link for the full results... Lavillenie wasn't in the meet and Barber won with 5.84.

The table you used, Kirk, needs to be updated :
If you consider the "U23" category, they are 4 :
Sergey Bubka.......... 6.00..........Paris..........July 13,1985..........21y 7m
Okkert Brits............6.00..........Sestriere......July 29, 1995.........21y 11m
Renaud Lavillenie.....6.01..........Leiria..........June 21, 2009........22y 9m
Dmitriy Markov........6.00..........Auckland......February 20, 1998...22y 11m
And if you include the 23 yeard old, you have to add 3 more :
Rodion Gataullin.........6.00..........Leningrad.....January 22, 1989..........23y 1m
Yevgeniy Lukyanenko...6.01..........Bydgoszcz.....July 1st, 2007.............23y 5m
Danny Ecker..............6.00..........Dortmund.....February 11, 2001.........23y 6m
Interesting too, those who cleared 6.00 m plus over 30 :
Björn Otto..........6.01..........Aachen..........September 5, 2012..........34y 10m
Jeff Hartwig.......6.02..........Sindelfingen....March 10, 2002..............34y 5m
Sergey Bubka......6.05..........Fukuoka.........September 13, 1997.........33y 9m
Tim Mack..........6.01..........Monaco..........September 18, 2004.........32y 0m

Thanks for the updates, Wan!
I can't believe that I didn't list RL!
RG, your 6m club page (http://polevaultpower.com/6mclub.php) needs RL to be added!
And maybe some more updates based on Wan's latest info.
