A little correction here:

I think Abigail Hayward (3.80) represents England and not Australia. Correct me if I am mistaken.

Also congrats to the Aussies. Mandi nearly jumped her pb of 3.71 and Blake's old pb was 5.05 (something like that) so well done! I also heard that Blake went for the Under 20 club record (beld by Steve Hooker) of 5.30 but he broke the pole.

This performance by Lucas is yet more confirmation of what a great coach Mark Stewart is.

By the way, was Matt Boyd there? He's at an eligible age and he jumps like 5.20 right?

Matt is much older - 20/21 - jumped 5.35 in March.

Here's a youtube of Blake's pole break. Too bad I couldn't find any videos of any clearances.

Mark Stewart has been doing wonders with this guy. Last time I saw him was less than a year ago and he was struggling to make it over 5m. Now he's going for 5.31!

After clinching the title, the teenager decided to attempt to break Olympic champion Steve Hooker’s under-20 Box Hill club record of 5.30m.

But on his first jump at 5.31m Lucas’s pole spectacularly shattered, dumping him on the mat as shards flew into the air.

His father, Steve, said Blake suffered minor cuts and wisely called an end to his jumping.
