5.01m Pole Vault WORLD RECORD - Guess who?
i did the numbers on isinbajeva's 5m jump..
mid?.........................................49/50
last 6 steps............................... 1.42
takeoff to max bend of the pole.. . .52
total vault......TakeOff to peak.. . 1.48
by the way a couple of points i have been trying to make are these..
first... the pole should bend to 90 degrees..
two...the point of maximum bend and the vaulter swinging the "back" flat to the runway are/should be the SAME.. if the back is not flat to the runway at max bend.. the swing is wrong and late..
if the pole does not bend to 90 degrees (30% of the grip to tip) you have lost some of the benefits of a fiberglass pole..
next.. the time from takeoff to maximum bend should be "fast" in the .50ish.. second range.. men or women..
the faster this time is the more force that is created.. just be ready (see point two...
if that doesn't happen............. you either have to stiff of a pole, or a pole designed wrong .........or you are not transferring your energy properly at the takeoff..
OR a combination of all of these...
if the pole comes out of it's bend "re-structures itself" before the vaulter swings the body too or above horizontal to the runway..(see point two ........back flat to the runway) you have lost energy.. and may have to just "fall' over the bar.. or miss..
