Re: Istanbul Predictions
Hello PV World. What a comp.
From what I saw, Young SkyWalker looked fantastic all day, but just couldn't get the right pole in his hands at the right time.
LZB was unfortunate with bad reconnaissance and looked surprised that this indoor track was "boards free".
Bjorn looked for Supremacy at 5.90, but his tires were a little splashy and he was barely short.
And Renaud pulled the saltiest of moves with back-to-back makes at 5.90/95... Fancy tricks, you dirty dog.
NOW ONTO THE WOMEN
I have put the last few hours into considering the females, and here's how I see it:
Yelena Isin-gonna-eff-around-bayeva - The queen is here, and as long as she sets her alarm clock to get up in time after her post-warmup nap, she will get it done.
Alana "I-wanna-be-your-boy" Boyd - Alana who? Has she ever jumped under a roof? This is my only concern with this one. She's flown "down under" the radar this year with two 460+ marks, and with A-Parnov as her guide, you gotta like her in the championship environment.
Holly B - Can't count out the flyin' brit, though she has previously bowed out in major comps, and Isi has her numbers locked in a safety deposit box in Moscow from a few beatings this indoor season.
Yarislay Silva - She's shown that her last name isn't the only thing medal about her with Pan Am and WC hardware in her trophy case in La Havana. LZB has tested out the mysterious flat runway, and she has his Beta going into this thing. With The Human Spring as her guide, I can see her on the podium.
Silke "Smooth as the Silk(e) for which Istanbul was named" Spiegelburg - The only competitor with the stones for 18 strides comes in hungry for her first 4.80m. Surely "Bjorn Auto 5.80" has given her the runway specs by now and the young kraut is ready for the bigs.
My call:
1) Iron Curtain Isi
2) Yari-slay-my-competition Silva
3) Holly Blease-blease-me Bleaseale

Re: Istanbul Predictions
Any non-american internet streams for the pole vault final?
I found this one:
http://linkupvideos.com/watch/2c237acf3 ... ive-Stream
(streams British Eurosports...works better from my direct cable connection than from my Wi-fi).
Alana who? Has she ever jumped under a roof?
We are a 'summer country' :-)
(though you would hardly know it from the amount of rain Sydney has had).
.....and Sally Pearson had one prior indoor race before this champs and is now Indoor WC (and 4th fastest ever).....and I don't believe Henry Frayne has ever jumped indoors and now has a LJ silver with his preferred TJ to come.
....and the WAIS has an indoor set up (next to the swimming pool!)....but I have no idea if Alana has jumped there.
....many of Alana's big jumps in the Aussie season were with swirling winds....I think no wind will suit her.
