Meet Tomorrow

I have a dual meet tomorrow. I'll be vaulting, it'll be my 3rd meet. The first one i cleared 7'6", the 2nd - 8' and i'm going for 9 at this meet.

my grip moved up about 2 hand grips from the 2nd meet and i'm working on inverting myself. I still have no pole bend, i have the slightest flex ever.

i'm taking steps from 58'6" -- 5 steps.

today i practiced about 3 hours, i was the first out and the last ones to leave. i re-tweaked the area between my groin and my leg. it can't explain it, anyways, my shoulder hurts and i was raped by the pole about 3 times in a row. my lower back is hurtin as well. anyone have any recovery tips?

anyways, just thought i'd share what i'm doing.

goodluck to you all on your seasons. sky's the limit.

i wish our other vaulters would stay three hours, someone to vault with who isn't there to get away from a work out would be nice!

Agreed, especially for three hours.

Your work ethic is awesome, but you have to give your legs at least a day to rest.

Wow thats weird because our coach makes us vault the day
before a meet. Everyday
Monday we go from 2:45-5:00
Tuesday2:45-4
Wenesday-Meet
Thursday2:45-4
Friday 2:45-5
And some meets on saturday

we usually do a light day of vaulting before a meet, just to make sure step is on.

Yes, i definately agree with this statement....you waste your stored energy, and you mentally fatigue yourself out way too early!!

that's cool, we have a track coach who really doesn't know to much about vaulting so we kinda run our own practices

same with us. we run our own practices. if only everyone else on the track team had the work ethic the vaulters have.

anyways, about the meet.....

I vaulted a PR--9'....i think it's pretty good considering the pain i was feeling in my groin. i missed all 3 at 9'6"...

also, i'm using a 120 lbs. pole, 12'6". today i was holding my highest ever, which was at 9'6". That's probably why i couldn't clear it. people are telling me that it's pretty good to be clearing heights that close to my grip.

no pole bend yet, but i'm hoping it will come soon.

well, it was fun. time to keep working on it at practice, and hopefully i can continue to excel as a vaulter. have fun vaulting guys.
