Bar Tap!

Unread postby Scott Go Pre » Thu Mar 31, 2005 3:54 pm

Is it just me or does anyone else have the worst luck with hitting a bar and having it stay on?

When I go out at a meet, I could just barely brush the bar with any part of my body and it will fall off :crying: . Then I will see someone in the same meet hit the bar like they were aiming for it and it still hangs up there.

Can anyone relate to me on this?

i can relate! the faintest touch and the crossbar comes crashing down for me, but my teammate, liz, can come crashing down on the bar and bounce it back up to land perfectly on the pegs again!! i don't know how she does it!! she has all the luck!!

I also have the worst luck with the bar, cept it goes in highs and lows. Last year, i "cleared 14'" in high school, but my chest barely touched it i didn't even feel it and it fell of. Then the next meet this one junior pretty much landed on it and it stayed. The best/worst was the first time i cleared 11' i cleared it excpet my nose, yes my nose hit the bar. I broke my nose but the bar stayed up...good trade off??? I think not

One of my friends hit the crossbar on his thing and it fell off, and it was his third attempt. After that, I told him, "That ought to teach you to keep your pecker in your pants!"

I once hit the crossbar and it came off the pegs, did a couple of revolutions, and landed back on the pegs where it stayed. I didn't realize how bad it was until i watched the video later and saw how high it came up off the pegs. Other than that, everytime i even breathe on the bar it falls off.

At outdoor conference last year, I was at a height that, had I cleared it, would have gotten me bronze. I went over on my first attempt, and then barely touched it on the way down, and it came off. The next two attempts, same thing happened. I ended up 4th instead. :(

to all those people out there who can practically sit in the crossbar and it stays up, WHAT IS YOUR SECRET???? ive bumped crossbars with my elbow or wrist on the way down, and the bar just leaps off the pegs.

maybe there is some kind of ritual? muahaha

just kidding :D
