Pole Break Injuries

For those of you that HAVE broken a pole and HAVE been injured in some way from it, what happened and how were you injured?

Curious to see what the most common pole break injuries are.

I've broken 4 and the only injury I sustained was minor bruising under my left shoulder blade where a piece of pole hit me.

bump on my head from kneeing myself, bruised shin (still from a month ago) and somehow the skin was broken, i guess the pole did that

I got a little banged up but nothing serious. I was just on a small pole from short run.

I didn't get hurt but I was told I had a spectacular break. 14' brown sky pole ( the one time I let a guy use it, he jumped short and to the right, wacked the pole on the standard about 8' up) Guess where it broke? Anyway I was told that I did very nice double or triple gaynor into the pit at about 8' off the ground. When I heard the "SPRANG" all I could think about was holding on to the section that I had in my hands and keep it as far away from my body as possible. The guys that saw it said I looked like an airplane propeller goin into the pit. The bottom of the pole ended up behind the pit about 15 or 20 feet. So, there's my one and only pole break story, no pain but a story none the less. Later............Mike

worst i've had was a cut on my forehead from a pole breaking in between my hands. I've gotten whacked in the elbow by a flying piece and gotten the pins and needles in my hands from the vibration when the pole snapped. that's about it

when I broke mine, it hit me in the left forearm so I had a huge bruise for a day or two but nothing bad

6 broken poles and only one injury that left a scar...knocked a hole in my lower lip and knocked my bottom teeth loose.

How'd you bruise your tailbone?

The first time it broke, my momentum plus where the pole broke just landed me in the pit. The second time was on an old blue skypole and it broke in two places. One kinda middleish and the other almost next to my bottom hand. I guess since i was rocking back and the double break i landed differently. I had already swung my trail leg through, and I didn't make it into the pit. I landed right on my tailbone.

Yup that was back at the beginning of junior year. My technique has progressed a lot since then If you ask those who've been coaching me.

The first time i ever jumped 15' i snapped a yellow catapole in four pieces in warm-ups. it stabbed me in the leg and i have a scar on my inner thigh... too close was that one. Kyle ellis didnt break the pole when this happened but he got some new spikes with really sharp spikes in them when he was younger and when he turned up he caught his hand on them and slashed the outside edge of his palm open and had to get stitches.
