Shoulder Pains

I was wondering what anyone would recomend for my shoulder. Supposively I have a strained/ sprained rhomboid muscle in my left shoulder (top arm). It wasn't that bad, but now the pain varies from a little to excruciating. I had it looked at before it started to really hurt, but he said I probably sprained it and to take Alieve and ice it. It is close to the end of the season and time is crucial, but I'm not sure if I should rest it or whatnot.
Should I rest my shoulder for a week and ice and alieve it or should I go get it checked out again or should I keep vaulting with ice and alieve? When a trainer dug his fingers into it, it felt really good, but it still hurt a lot. Thanks for your imput

Yep, you are definitely a vaulter! It's a pretty common problem with vaulters. I guess it comes from swinging on your top arm and working the muscle really hard, to the point of straining it. It must mean you are doing something right.
We had a very knowledgable sports trainer/massage therapist work on both Chase and Conrad when their Rhomboid muscle was really sore. I'll find out what he did for it and let you know.

Thank you
If it helps any, it happened after I fell. I cleared and landed in a seated position with my legs straight out and my arms by my side. When I landed, my shoulders were forced up, and my neck and shoulders got the brunt of the impact. I believe it just even more so agravated my already hurting rhomboid.
Looked like this when I landed kinda.

Becareful of what you have done to it. I had the same problem last year at the end of the season and went to a chiropractor. He put electrostim on it. That made it alot worse. we switched to ultrasound, ice, vitamin C, and alot of protein. Didn't have quite enough time to fix it, but it helped.
